How is adding the word 'The' to 2016's 'Suicide Squad' an acceptable Sequel Title?

The 2016 version was so bad even hollywood forgot it existed.

Seriuosly though, the 2016 version felt like a rejected TV show pilot more than anything.

They're preparing for a multiverse.

Well, it isn’t technically a sequel, strictly speaking. While it does acknowledge some minor events of the previous SS movie, it can certainly be viewed as a standalone film. Or perhaps considered a “soft reboot”, depending on your interpretation of that term.

Either way, considering what an absolute mess the original Suicide Squad was, it was undoubtedly a savvy maneuver by the production company to NOT market this as a direct sequel. If they had actually gone with some lame title akin to one of your suggestions, the movie likely would have flopped hard.

I'm telling you, Hollywood is getting so fucking lazy and uninspired, it's sickening. It really is. How about The Fast and the Furious and then Fast and Furious?? Or Hulk (2003) and The Incredible Hulk (2008)?? Very lazy, very uninspired.
