What's next?

As a big fan of the Marvel universe, I looked forward to every new release. Superhero movies, exciting plots, and cool special effects are all things I love about these movies. But lately, I'm starting to notice that something has gone wrong. 🤔

A few years ago, when we watched The Avengers or Black Panther, we were fascinated not only by the epic battles, but also by the deep characters and well-written plots. Each part was a part of a bigger picture, and we could understand how it all connected.

But now, when I watch new movies and TV series, the feeling has somehow changed. Sometimes it seems that new projects like Loki or Secret Wars just repeat well-known formulas without any real novelty. Don't you notice this too? Don't you think superhero movies have become more about effects and less about stories that are exciting?

Perhaps it's just a periodic downturn in the great cinematic cycle. Perhaps new directors and writers are looking for new approaches and will eventually find something that will bring back the magic we used to admire.

Yes. Very formulaic. They couldn't help themselves in this one by having an epic showdown with a buncha Deadpools, not explaining why or how they came to be.

reply

Those stupid Deadpools were boring and unnecessary. It was pure cringe.

Specially how they kept mocking that long haired Deadpool who was nothing but nice to them.

And then Ryan Reynolds killed him to take his dog and because he was feminine. I felt sorry for that dude. Like he wasn't even feminine. He just had long washed hair and clean face. He didnt deserve to die over that.

reply

I think he did all that because he had this intensely weird attraction towards the dog which is even weirder.

reply

Yeah. That is even worse. Can you imagine you like some dog and you go and kill her owner to whom dog is attached. But you are like: "Well I like you".

That was so mean and it was cringe how they played it for laughs.

Marvel needs to introduce the idea of superhero movies being standalone films instead of part of an “expanded universe.” They also need to get audiences comfortable with the idea of popular characters being portrayed by different actors, so they don’t have to rely on a specific actor’s schedule or desire to be in a film for them to be able to proceed with production. Think of how many more Iron Man or Spider-Man or Captain America films there could be if other actors were allowed to play the role instead of just the current actors portraying them. It would be like not making any more Batman movies in the 1990s/2000s until Michael Keaton wanted to come back.

Probably impossible now given how accustomed people are to the concept but definitely agree. It was fun for the first 3 films (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor) but has turned into a convoluted mess.
