If he wasn't it in, I wouldn't care about this movie at all. Deadpool has always been a bit too try hard and cringe to me.

I totally disagree.

However, the first Deadpool was just meh while Deadpool 2 was awesome.

Deadpool 2 was million times better than Deadpool 1.

Deadpool 1 was not funny at all.

But to be honest, he is kinda embarrassing himself and his characters with this and the idiotic but fashionable humor is not helping. Probably he signed contracts.

The first two movies did pretty well for rated-R films, and they did better than all of the X-Men movies even when Hugh Jackman was leading them.

His inclusion will likely help this movie, but I think it would've done fine without him if he chose not to come back.
