I'm not really familiar, but are private investigators actually legal? Isn't surveilling someone without their knowledge or consent illegal? I guess you can't really do anything about someone taking photos in a public place, but can't something be done about those people following them? Or that guy who took Rinder's trash? That's like stalking behavior.
I think its all legal - otherwise how would the tabloid press be able to do it?
I don't see why the investigators didn't just stand their ground. They aren't required to say for whom they're working. Buy a soda at the bar and drink it in the lobby - you're not trespassing you're a customer.
