Who saw "The Master" in theaters? Did you have an incident like this?

I saw it in theaters, and I remember having a weird incident happen. The theater was almost empty. I remember there was just me, a friend I went with, and maybe just 3 or 4 other people. A few rows in front of me, there was a guy watching the movie, and laughing through most of it. Not just little chuckles. But full on, deep, sometimes gasping laughter, like he was watching a comedy movie. (What is and isn't funny is debatable. Whatever *you* think is the funniest movie you ever saw in theaters, imagine the guy was watching that.)
He left maybe halfway through. After watching Leah Remini's show, and seeing all the harassing things the church does, I remembered this. I started thinking, maybe the church told people to go to showings of the movie, create some sort of awkward situation any way they could, and cause people to walk out. Yeah, it seems like a really petty thing to do. But, look at all the other petty, a$$hole-ish things they do. So I'm just asking, did anybody else see The Master in theaters, and have some awkward situation happen with a stranger?

I went to this and I think a row of older people came in late.
During the scene where he keeps walking back and forth to the window, this high pitch screech started sounding. I thought maybe it was part of the soundtrack, like PTA was doing some kind of experimental thing and adding an unpleasant sound to add to the feel. It just keep going. It was hurting my ears. I almost got up and left to see if there was a problem with the sound. I think it may have been a hearing aid acting up. That is the only thing I can think of. It was so painful I could no longer concentrate on the scene.
If that's what it was, I can't believe none of the other people in their party stopped it sooner. I sent a message to the theater, but they ignored my comment.
