You are right about a Dearth of movies to see.
I like all 3 and I did not expect to like any of them (only recently seeing the first two last month). Actually it turns out all the movies are bits from a BBC 30min TV series thrown together and sold to the US as a movie, so you are onto something actually.
It does feel a bit cheated from that perspective, but I watched the first two free multiple times and found them better the 2nd time, as I saw them from a different perspective and picked up more of the subtle humor and found them brilliant (and can't look at them like a regular movie). I can watch clips on youtube out of context and find them just as hilarious.
I think they are edited pretty well, so amateurish I disagree with, but they are basically vignettes thrown together, so you can't go into it expecting anything more cohesive. I like an intense well done movie, but these are just fun to sit back and wish I was having dinner with these guys. I knew little about these guys prior (though I did remember Coogan from Philomena and tropic thunder). I never heard of Rob, so I actually found the first one kinda believable, even though it was fictionalized, til I put it all together later.
If you like the first two, it's more of the same..in a good way.
