This unfortunate 2nd weekend crash (61%)

I have to say that I finally saw this on Friday and REALLY liked it. There was so much effort by so many insanely talented artists to bring this film to life.

Unfortunately...instead of a "lion" it's quickly becoming something of a box office Turkey. Yes... It will break even and make a tidy profit but I'm sure Disney and most other analysts were expecting much more than this. With no new competition, a 61% crash does not bode well for this film's legs going forward.

Thoughts?

reply

Actually it's only 55%! Subtract $23m for Thursday previews and do the math. Recent daily drops are 50%.

reply

Lol...ok let's hold that standard to all films and then the Lion King is STILL poor in regards to %holds.

Lol

reply

Awwww the unfortunate crash. Disney sucks :(

A blink of ignorant hope in this long journey of sorrows, disappointments and embarrassments.. Good for you :)

Current world wide 1.2b (and still counting)
What was the break even again? :D :D

reply

"61% crash does not bode well for this film's legs going forward."

Poor Disney, they are going to have to settle with 1.6 billions and the record for biggest animated and musical movie.

Another idiot box office "expert". Are you still "lol" ing?

reply

Ummmm...maybe because this is a once-in-a-generation IP for Disney and if it couldn't crack a billion It would be a DISASTEROUS stewardship of said IP?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

hey Queen , did you The "Once In a Generation IP" Lion King Just got a sequel/prequel.......lololollololololol

How does this happen?

Literally How do things keep getting WORSE for you...

I've never seen anyone FAIL like you do, and I mean that Literally....

A Lot of people Fail...But somehow You FAIL as BAD as humanly possible and Then IT GETS Worse

Lol I mean You flat out got Obliterated with The Lion King....The Film Goes on To Easily be the highest grossing live action fantasy off all time.

Breaks every record there is for The genre.

EASILY destroys your "Mark" you intentionally tried to set high of "It needs to Top Beauty and The Beast"....lol The film Literally surpassed Your "Mark" by 400 Million More than the goal you set...

Then Its revealed Disney netted 580 Million dollars in Profit off The Lion King

I mean How could it get worse than that.....How could you fail any worse than That^

lol heres how, Now Disney announces A Sequel to The Lion King.....and Your Hilariously and now Incorrect Claims of This Being "A once in a generation IP" goes down in burning flames as well

lol

lolol

lololol

lololololol

You cant even LIE right!

Your entire reason for coming up with this absurd "Once in a generation IP" Label was a Post Hoc attempt to MOVE the Goal posts...

once you realized The Lion King was going to top BATB, You needed to come up with a "New Mark"......You needed to come up with some New excuse why TLK needed to make MORE than you originally said and SET

Thus, comes the Post Hoc, "We'll this is a once in a generation IP" It doesn't crack 1 Billion(No Wait), If it doesnt Top Beauty and The Beast(No Wait), So what Its the highest grossing live action fantasy of all time....

In The end, Your horrifically awful attempt to come up with a way The Lion King isnt a giant success, lead you to the post hoc "This is a Once in a generation IP"....

Hilariously that too has now been Obliterated With Disney Announcing A Sequel to a film you embarrassingly claimed was an "Once in a generation IP"

Its also worth noting while You were forced to constantly move the goal posts because TLK kept surpassing all your Trolling "Marks"

eventually you backed yourself into a corner and your FINAL CLAIM was "with A Once in a generation IP like TLK Disney shouldnt make like 150 Million in Profit, It should make 400 M"

Heres your exact quote--- "[–] QueenFanUSA (2958) a year ago

In the end it absolutely matters if a film ends up making 100- 150 million in net profit or 400 million.

Lol and heres confirmation The Lion King Netted Disney 580 Million In Profit

https://deadline.com/2020/04/the-lion-king-movie-profit-2019-jon-favreau-1202916432/#!

So not only did TLK surpass every pathetic attempt you made at moving the goal post, Not Only did TLK Top your 1 Billion Mark, Then your "It Has to top BATB" Mark, Not Only did TLK turn out to Be Not just "A Once in a generation IP" with The NOW CONFIRMED sequel ....

But even you last attempt when you were back into a corner and You Tossed out an absurd "It needs to make Disney at least 400 Million in profit to live up to its once in a generation IP expectations"

WENT DOWN IN BURNING FLAMES since The Lion Netted Disney over 580 Million in Profit

Its not possible to fail worse than you did here with TLK queen....Literally at every possible stage and in every possible way, You failed and were disastrously wrong

PS...

How bout Disney and Mulan "TKO-ing" WB and Tenet with Disney Netted 260 M+ off Mulan's Disney+ sales where Disney got to keep 100% of the profit, Meanwhile WB Hilariously are sitting at 40 M+ domestically with Tenet where WB only gets 50% of it(see other Messages I sent you where I break it down)
