It's really not unrealistic that one daughter, Anissa, who was an activist already likes having powers while the other daughter, Jennifer, is primarily unhappy with them.
Also, finding out your father is a superhero means a lot of people are going to try to kill him and he's in danger every day. It's what Jefferson's wife was always upset about, and I don't think writers make a bad choice to show Jennifer is also concerned.

shareGaining superpowers may mean you can never have children or you will have deformed children. It could mean dying 10 days or 10 years later from the powers eating you up. It could mean they are uncontrollable and kill people you love. None of these things a concern?
And, yes, you don't have to be involved now that you have something, but it's a real case of conscience. If you win the lottery you can spend it all on yourself, but now you can give some to charities that mean something. For the selfish, no thought and no dilemma. For others a soul searching.

The lottery is a GREAT example. You'd be a moron if you whined about winning the lottery "wah now I have to choose a charity it's so hard". That is just not logical. Winning the lottery they have up now might be a bit stressful but DAMN I will take it. I think that's too much money for one person but I will make it work :] And they addressed the kids thing on the show. Their father has kids, he's old, and he's only in pain when he battles people. The benefits FAR outweigh any negatives and hell, I'm sure most people would take adoption if it meant they could have super powers.
shareOn the show itself, one kid had the super power to come back from the dead and to force people to say things they didn't want to say out loud. He was also being killed by his super power. He ended up going into a pod until they could find a cure. Which could be never. I'm sure he was thrilled.
Look, I understand you're unwilling to consider the possible negativity of a super power event, but at least the show is. It's one reason I watch.
In that episode it is clearly explained that he is dying because his powers came from Green Light. It is not the same for those who got it 'naturally'. That kid had terrible powers that he could not control, a great example of an undesirable power that is the opposite of the sisters.

2. A woman's reproductive system is very different than a man's.
3. Neither daughter has the same powers as their father, so there's no reason to assume the same arc for their powers.

1. So? All you need to know is that people who get their powers 'naturally' have stable DNA. They aren't dying, nor do any of the sisters seem to think they might die. The powers aren't making them sick in anyway, they actually said it even removed their period pain. I don't remember how BL got his powers, but the girls DO have their grandparents DNA, it's just mixed with normal DNA, which isn't a problem.
2. Why would a female's reproductive system be affected while the male's isn't? Both are equally prone to damage and if his sperm can survive I think an egg can. There's no logical reason to assume otherwise.
3. They seem similar enough and none of them are sick at all. They are still getting their periods. To assume their reproductive potentially would be compromised just has no basis. The only thing they need to worry about is having kids with powers.
Yes I argue about movies on Saturday nights. I will credit the show with the first real example of a downside to the powers, the daughter frying her laptop. That actually makes it look unappealing. The last episode of season 1 however looks stupid because they made her control her powers too well at the end.
