Dr. Phil
I watch a lot of Dr. Phil and one thing he says over and over and over again to parents is NEVER ask your child to deal with adult matters, and NEVER force your child to handle things over which he has no control. This movie is a wonderful, textbook example of a character (Jeanette) who is doing both, almost with every word that comes out of her mouth. It really brings that philosophy to life and you can really see the horrifying effect on a child when a parent is doing those things. That is what made this film interesting to me.
