This is good!!
I watched the first episode twice. Looking forward to next one tonight.
shareI've watched the first two episodes and I'm glued to this (they are all available on-line, since they ran on the BBC first). Episode 2 is even better than episode 1 (IMO). SO far the series is so well-done, and fast paced. They did a great job with this.
shareAgree, second episode was riveting.
shareIf you are not watching this you are missing something great.
shareWonderful acting. Beautiful cinematography. Intense. This show is much better than the OK musical movie.
shareAfter watching this (I have one more episode) I realize the musical versions (movie and stage) actually slowed down the story at times. It wasn't as fast-paced as this one. Yet, at times I wish the characters would break into song - go figure.
shareI had the same feeling and I think there's a good reason: it's such an emotional story. In some ways only music can truly bring out the intense feeling involved.
shareI finished it last night, and let me tell you, I found it to be EXCELLENT! I can't think of another film, TV show or miniseries that I've that watched this year that I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed Les Miserables.
I thought it was a genuinely moving, wonderfully acted, beautifully shot and expertly directed production, and it really made me think hard about how man is supposed to live in this world. Valjean is a genuinely inspirational character.
It is ultimately a story about rigid justice versus mercy, and the possibility of redemption for any wayward soul who journeys off course. It also forces us to ask the question: Are we, both as a society and as individuals, doing enough to make the world a better place? Are we doing our part to alleviate the suffering of those less fortunate than ourselves?
I had previously seen the 1998 film with Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush. It is also very good, but the six-hour runtime here really gives the story time to breathe and includes a lot of details presumably from the book that the '98 film does not include.
I would highly recommend this mini-series to anyone. 9/10
Bumping this because it was excellent and everyone should see it. Done
