Reading the description of this, it is similar to Cube (1997)

man CUBE is the best (or one of the best) of this type of people-escaping-puzzles genre

hiiiiiiiiiighly recommend if you haven't seen. ALSO skip the sequels they suck harder than a frog's butt in a watermelon seed

The similarities have been pointed out by others as one might expect (was never the biggest fan of Cube myself, albeit that is definitely an interesting and creepy movie). That being said, the thrill ride that is Escape Room still did its own thing - it felt fresh to me. Looking forward to the sequel.

Just saw this movie and couldnt help but think the same thing. It just felt like if cube was directed by Michael Bay

Did you end up watching cube? I remember liking it haven't seen it in ages though.
