If this movie had the same old boring curtsy Pikachu. Would anyone really care about this movie.

I mean 2 hours of Pika Pika would get old fast. Like it did in every other Pokemon movie. People say only reason anyone would see the Sonic movie is for Jim Carry. But the only reason to see this movie is for Ryan Reynolds

It's 40 minutes of Ryan Reynolds and 4-8 seconds of pika pika. And I think kids would love this show. As for Jim Carrey, that's only part of it. They were more pissed if not put off with the Sonic look so the director said they'll redo the look and now people were happy again or want to see it now.

I felt that Pikachu was completely out of character with the voice and behavior.
I agree, pika pika gets old fast, but that's him and changing it has not improved it at all.
I actually missed it.
Incredibly I would have preferred subtitles for Pikachu, and I hate subtitles.

HENCE why Pokemon is about the trainer characters collecting Pokemon. they don't star in the role so you have to hear them repeat it 1000X
