Sex scene with Toby Jones was crap and unnecessary.
OK, we get it, you want to make it a bit edgy, but come on.
You're my wife now.

He did not come. He coughed instead.
It's that man again!!
As a sex scene, it was hardly "edgy" - certainly not in comparison to some scenes in last Christmas's "And Then There Were None". It served very well to show the pathos of Mayhew's life.
TWFTP has had some very complimentary newspaper reviews but some adverse comments on the Radio Times website.
At the moment I would go for the adverse comments on the Radio Times website.
It was dreadful and the horrible dark green/teal colour grading really took the biscuit.

Not sure how anyone could take that scene as an attempt at being 'edgy'. If ever a sex scene was necessary it was that one, considering what we learn about their relationship later in the film. Weird criticism.

Just because I stumble down the road like a drunk, that doesn't mean it's the wrong one.
Exactly! The "attempted-sex" scene towards the end of Episode 2 put the previous one into perspective.
shareExactly so. The first scene wasn't comfortable watching but there was good reason for that. At the end when Alice Mayhew says that his touch made her skin crawl it becomes entirely understandable.
