It's not related to the movie with Mel Gibson, is it?

Just thinking of the title makes me think of the 1996 movie that starred Mel Gibson.

From what I've read it doesn't appear to be. This is about a negotiator for kidnappings. It's inspired by Laurent Combalbert.

Of course the Mel Gibson movie was, itself, a remake of a 1956 film titled "Ransom!" with an exclamation point, apparently for excitement.

Thought the same with all the "new" ideas coming from recent movies.
Glad it was asked and answered already, giving this new one a go later on, always fun to have more of these crime shows.

My impression was it was going to be more like the movie "Proof of Life" that had Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan in it.
