Pairing a smart watch from out in the street?

When he held his phone up out in the street with "looking for devices" running, we all groaned but when the bank guy looks at his smart watch and it is asking to pair with an unknown device, we had to say no more of this show. TiVo says bye bye

Class one bluetooth devices can have a range over 300 feet

Even a class two (which is the majority of phones) have over 30 feet range

He wasn't that far from the front windows where the hostages were

Class three devices (under 30 feet) are things like a mouse which are intended to be used right next to their pairing device
