I liked the first episode but the second episode was ridiculous. The dialogue is full of cliches and predictable dialogue. It was smeared with dogooders. OMG do you really think baseball players will pitch in $300000 a yr for the kids medicine. Plus I think medicaid might cover it and since it is in Canada they will cover it.
I noticed the producer was the guy who ran "the man in the high castle" until Amazon fired him, Frank Spotnitz.

The production is receiving Canadian tax credits, per the flash screen at the end, showing a Canadian flag.

shareBecause the powers that be for this particular show made for the US TV market decided to make the lead character a Canadian. There's also the character of Oliver Yates, whose father lives in Montreal and so is presumably Canadian also.
And FYI, other current or recently cancelled shows filmed in Canada but not set in Canada include: Suits, Designated Survivor, Reign, The Flash, Arrow, Rogue, The Strain, Heroes Reborn, Beauty and the Beast, 12 Monkeys, Hannibal, Hemlock Grove, The Expanse, Killjoys, Dark Matter, etc., as well as Taken (based on the Liam Neeson movies), which should be coming to TV soon, and the new Star Trek show which hasn't begun filming yet.
I believe the pilot episode showed the main character carrying a Canadian driver's license, however.
shareIts a Canadian production/show that was bought by an American network. I guess they switched some things to be American friendly and easier to shop to American Networks. Think Flashpoint, Rookie Blue etc. The Baseball stadium they were in on episode 2 was Rogers Centre in Toronto. Its easy to see why one of the commenters got confused thinking it was set in Canada
