difference in acting styles

most of the actors in this show are acting as if on broadway than on a tv show. I assume that this is by design and works well with the show. it is really noticeable when sterling k. brown comes on board for season 3. his style is more tv oriented.

Good observation. You are spot on. The production is similar to a play, the dialog tells you everything going on — rather than showing you visually. It works, but there is no subtlety or need for the audience to connect the dots because the dialog does it all.

You have to do that anymore. People are texting on their phone 24/7, so you can't expect them to actually watch. ;-)
