If air pressure inside is similar to that of outside the suit would just be fine. If the pressure was equal on both sides, even a very thin layer of glass would work.
Of course, to avoid oxygen and nitrogen poisoning at higher air pressures, they have to change air mixtures, and even then, our current record is 70 atmospheres. 7 miles down is over 1000 atmospheres. Very high pressure gasses also have other problems like corrosiveness and thermal superconductivity, but those are well beyond my knowledge.
On the other hand, humans have descended to the trench as early as the 60's, so in the future, it may be possible to come up with very tough materials that can withstand the +1000 atms of pressure difference and be compact enough to make into a suit.

The submersibles have always been very strong on the outside to resist the crushing pressures, and normal atmospheric pressure inside. Movies like this are just silly.

They are demonstrably silly, and both of us proved it. What is the point to have a movie based on a technology that could not exist? Star Trek is more realistic. Why are you being a horse's you know what about it anyway?

A movie is an interpretation of reality. It is very difficult to say whether warp drives or replicators or very tough diving suits are more realistic. As long as it doesn't contradict in universe rules, i'm fine with it. Maybe they are breathing an air with 1000 atms of pressure, like, with 0,02% oxygen or whatever.
I'm sorry if i came off as rude, i was brainstorming about various possible explanations.
