shareI enjoyed it a lot
John Hawkes was terrific and Robert Forster was his usual cool toughguy self (the guy is always great)
Really good mystery and exciting shootouts too
I will suggest it to friends
Just finished. Yeah I enjoyed it. The main villain was a little cartoonish but I loved that, he was funny. Maybe could have done without the end credit scene. I never felt bored watching this film it was paced very well.
shareI have watched it several times. Great movie!
shareAgreed. It caught my interest because of Octavia Spencer’s pic on Netflix and then Robert Forster came on! Acting was all very good. Mood turned out to be a cool guy too (notwithstanding his work). Somewhat film noir-esque. And i liked the credit scene.
shareGreat flick. John Hawkes needs more leading roles. He carried this movies and made it look easy, effortless. Probably my favourite actor. Been a fan since I first saw him in Blue Streak when I was a kid. His bit part in From Dusk till Dawn is a masterclass in acting in my humble opinion.
shareMuch better than I expected and glad I checked it out. It kind of went against stereotypes, which was refreshing.
The lead by John Hawkes was a bit on the older side and scrawny. Came across as somewhat of a loser but he actually had charm and smarts throughout the movie. A middle-aged, down-on-his luck guy.
The directors put in just the right amount of humor without going over the top or making this too serious or morose. No overreacting or overdramatic characters that got on your nerves. Everything seemed to have just the right balance.
Finally, the last thing I liked was the fact they didn't put in the tiring old trope of making the Russian mafia the bad guys, thank god. The directors were good at making us care and like the characters.
