Hollywood declaring Gay For Pay = Career Boost

They're not even subtle about it. How many years in a row now has at least one overtly BLTGQ themed film/tv show been showered with major award nods? It just seems pretty evident that the big wig insiders are aggressively encouraging & incentivizing filmmakers and actors to make these films. It just may be the most reliable Oscar bait right now.

Kind of skirted around my point but okay. There are always good films that do not get acknowlegement from the Hollywood establishment so the opinion of "but they are good" is neither here nor there. It's also not really about "minorities' but rather annually promoting & rewarding the very specific themes that I have mentioned and it's a clearly a politically driven agenda that cannot be broadly attributed to "Hollywood liberalism". For instance it's not by accident that you're far more likely to see a white female actress in an intimately depicted lesbian themed role than an interracial romance of any significance. Filmmakers know it & actors know it and everyone is responding accordingly as the incentives are substantial.

You're of the opinion that these films are good & that's fine but like I said many good films don't get high profile critical acclaim and awards by the elite Hollywood delegates making the decisions so it's the theme that's the x factor here. As I mentioned before it doesn't seem about trying to be "diverse" when there is actually a rather narrow emphasis on highlighting & rewarding this very specific topical theme throughout the year, every year despite being "niche" as you say.

My purpose wasn't to get into the good or bad of why this is such a prominent focus among the Hollywood establishment as much as a curious observation. It is what it is. I'm sure there are numerous powerful Hollywood representatives making the decisions who have a vested personal & political interest in actively promoting these themes.

I think these are excellent points. I enjoyed reading both of your thoughts and would like to thank you for keeping it civil in an otherwise uncivilized world.
