What makes you think that the family shared their agendas with the church members? That makes no sense.

In real life, that would be simply an unfortunate coincidence. In narrative media, it's plot convenience -but, at least, it's of the plausible/believable kind. There's bits of plot convenience to be found even in renowned masterpieces of narrative work. You need conflict for a good story to flow.

So they killed 6 people, 7 if you count the first husband to save 1. Is Grace happy that all 4 of her children were murdered so she could live?
