WWZ meets Snowpiercer

Great movie

Agree with the title, disagree with the verdict.
It was alright but just barely. It needed to have more fun with its idea.
Instead like your title suggests, it combined those two films' basic idea and made a product.
A product that will appeal to the mass audience, nothing more.

yes it was clearly made to be enjoyed in a theater with a large audience
does that make it bad?
very mainstream but very well made and very effective

reply

Mainstream, yes, since it's not rated R-18.
I'm saying it aims wide audience but at the movie level, it wasn't up there with other great zombie films.
It lacked imagination/creativeness on its own, borrowed elements from other films.
The characters were generic bunch we've seen before (the muscle, the father, the pregnant, the child, the irredeemable a$$hole, old people, young couple etc), the visuals are outright copied from WWZ, the concept of closed space in the form of a train was from other great train films.

How effective it was, is up for debate.
But I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I did too, for some parts of it.
The director is very promising, check out his earlier animated films. They are more grounded and shows ugly yet realistic side of Korean society. I think he attempted to do that here as well but the message was not very clear.
