Looks good but...
doesn't look too original. Reminds me so much of World Waw Z.
shareI have watched it and I wouldn't say that they are very similar. "Train to Busan" is a quite straight "survive-in-this-environment" movie, while World War Z jumps a lot from one place to another. It is true that it is not very original in its depictions of zombies and some plot developments, but it does a great job with the environment and has some quite surprising situations. Totally worth watching, in my opinion.
shareIt was very reminiscent of World War Z in its depiction of zombies as a mass swarm determined to bite and infect others rather than full on consumption. A lot of visuals of the zombies piling on top of one another were quite similar, too.
I am a fan of WWZ, but I thought Train to Busan was the superior film. The action scenes were better shot (too much quick-cut editing for the close-up action in WWZ), I cared for the characters more, and TTB had more consistent tension and suspense and overall more creative setpieces. In my opinion, it was the best zombie thriller since 2004's Dawn of the Dead.
Agreed. It's very similar in the speed and piling of zombies. But otherwise Busan is quite a different film.
It was so well done and had much more tension. The characters were very engaging and I cared about them. The father-daughter relationship was central and some some search for a cure. The train chase scene was epic, especially compared to the ridiculous death-defying wall climbing scene in WWZ.
I want a sequel right now!
oh, yes, I agree with both of you. The zombies were very WWZ-type, but yeah, I also think Train to Busan is way way better :), especially with characters and their feelings. Very well developed. I loved the moment when they have to cross a carriage while in a tunnel.
I hope there is a sequel. It has been huge in South Korea, so maybe we will get one.
i enjoyed this movie a lot but it is EXACTLY like WWZ (movie). i liked that movie a lot too. the zombies in both films move/twitch/turn exactly the same way as well as the very quick (like in 28 DAYS/WEEKS LATER & WWZ) time it takes to turn once bitten. oh and the way the zombies swarm like ants is also identical to WWZ. it's basically WWZ but in Korea.
Train to Busan makes for a great companion film to World War Z. It's kind of like "this is what was happening in another part of the world". And the train setting added much more dreadful atmosphere.
shareThis crap and World War Z are very much alike, neither is too original.
