Newsies was a disaster as a movie but a success as a Broadway musical. Cats was a success as a Broadway musical but a disaster as a movie!!!

Only it seems this movie is even worse, AND more expensive.
I didn't think that Phantom flopped because it was horrible movie. I thought it just flopped because no one cared. 🤣
shareI'm one of the millions who loved the "Phantom" show, wore out my original cast album, and who can still sing most of the score. It really is a blast of a show with a terrific score, and by all rights th he show's ongoing popularity should have drawn millions into movie theaters.
It didn't, because the movie was terrible, and the show's fans stayed away.
I'm a huge phantom fan as well. I've even seen Love Never Dies.
I thought that the Phantom movie had no soul. It was flat and colourless, but I did think it was better than Les Mis.
The more I read about Cats, it seems that it has all the problems that I didn't like in the movie Les Mis, so I'm not holding much hope that I will like Cats, but I really like the musical, as dated as it is.
