Does anyone ever call her Fleabag or any other name?

The show got a bit old for me at first, but the last two episodes got my attention. There is a lot of "British" thinking but not saying aloud. Crazy that no one talked about the slapping! I would have slapped that evil, phony stepmother back! But instead Fleabag continues to be fake nice to her. Fleabag vents her anger in subtle (funny) ways. My dad is similar to Fleabag's dad -- bottled up emotion to the point of appearing numb! Interesting to see Dad's awkwardness and coldness towards his daughters.

I, too, was wondering if they ever actually called her Fleabag. And, if so, WHY is that her name? It sounds like a nickname for someone with a lot of cats

From what I've read Fleabag is the nickname Phoebe's real family call her.

I've always heard fleabag used in connection with a dirty dog, which we learn she basically is, or at least her actions are consistent with one.

Someone on another thread abbreviated the character's name as FB; for some sleepy reason, I read that abbreviation as "F(ee) B(ee)" and thought, oh! that's where her family got "Fleabag" from!

This made more sense to me a minute ago than it does now having written it down but oh well.

I was going to ask where the title / name came from, as normally its a term of derision.

The name "fleabag" is about how the character sees herself.

I've watch all of both season 1 and 2 and nobody ever calls her by any name.
