Thoughts On the Crew So Far?

What does everyone think about the crew so far? Not surprising the First Mate/Bosun/chief deckhand is a douchebag and piss poor manager. But he thinks he is great. And the Chief Stew of course is the Chief Bitch. Are these requirements for those positions? I actually like this captain better than Captain Lee. Captain Lee just rubbed me the wrong way.

P.S. This show was real clear about their tip money, $1,300 for 3 days. That is great if you are only working 8 hour days. That is like $50 an hour. But then the the one stew said she worked 21 hours one day. So that $50 an hour comes down below $20 an hour if they are working that many hours. So it's not that great. I am thinking the hours they have to work and the stuff they have to do and put up with is not worth the "great money" they get. And where was the one guy a firefighter? He said he didn't make $1,300 in two weeks as a firefighter? In my area they make way more than that in two weeks. He must have been at a crappy department.

So, I really dislike the Bosun and Chief Stew, both are terrible managers with poor people skills. Last night when she said being a chief stew meant being a bitch struck me as really off and wrong. And that Bosun really thinks he is the *beep* just because the captain promoted him. I like this Captain better than Captain Lee, though he seems a bit odd and quirky. Chef Ben is always great and I like his elder statesmen role on the crew. The rest of the crew are okay, though a couple have work ethic issues or can't seem to follow rules (looking at you Danny). Can't wait to see who inevitably gets kicked off mid-season.

It sounds like they work odd hours since they seem to be at the guests' beck and call. So, yeah, the pay is decent at best. $1300 biweekly for a firefighter seems small if you live in a big city, but my impression is that he comes from a small town and it may be a voluntary fire department thus the lower wages. My guess...

Thank you for curing me of my ridiculous obsession with love.

They get paid hourly also , not sure how much. The tip is just extra. They talked about this on original below deck.

Yes, and I’m pretty sure they’re also making the standard daily stipend that all “actors” make for reality tv work.

So they’re triple dipping:

Hourly wage as yacht employee
Tips from guests
Daily rate for tv work

I was right. This article confirms the “triple dip”

So far, I really like this crew. They all have strong personalities which will keep the show interesting, but no over the top nut jobs like Rocky. I think Julia is an adorable sweetheart and she's my favorite so far.

Wait until next week. I think Danny is going to get canned (may be edited to look that way) but the promo said he was watching a threesome in the hot tub....way out of order for the guests privacy and the fact that if he's on night duty he should be checking lines and working. Not cavorting with the guests. So....he may be this seasons Rocky!
Different reasons obviously but another crew member awol from duties...yes.

Be well and be kind

In real world Danny would have been fired long time ago. And calling your capt "dude" and "man"?? Wtf was he thinking?
Oh well, but it's a ( scripted? ) tv show and they need all the drama they can get I guess.

I find Aussie accents ANNOYING. I hate that everything they say goes up in inflection at the end of the sentence like it's a Question.

I don’t think all aussies use upspeak. Seems to be more prevalent among millennials.

I couldn't believe the Captain didn't call Danny out for referring to him as "dude" and "man". Incredibly disrespectful to refer to any professional superior in this manner.
