Very dissapointing first episode.

90% of incoherent teen/family/small town melodrama that tries to pass as character development or character introduction mixed with annoying people. that being said the few Horror scenes were well done and "the mist" itself was creepy enough.

not a good start at all but i will give it a fair chance.

It's kinda disappointing to read this, I was excited about the series. Maybe it will get better.

i didn't like the episode. i won't be moving forward with it.

I am 20min in and it is making me want to just switch it off... it is coming across as a libtard propaganda piece:

- Bisexual (white) lad who doesn't love a gender he loves people + lame ass my dad doesn't speak to me because I ware makeup. And talking about "white privilege" ... he also says American football is typical "white male aggression"

- 16 year old white girl gets raped at a collage high school party by a jock. Teen campus rape bollocks.

- Black man who is homeless dressed like a soldier runs miles to town to warn the white police of danger and gets thrown in a cell treated badly & roughed up.

By the end of this it won't surprise me if we hear how all women are being held down by the patriarchy & Islam is a religion of peace.

And a horde of fucking idiots protesting screaming & shouting MIST MONSTER LIVES MATTER!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Okay finished it & the second half was much better & was definitely enough to make me overlook the crap stuff. I am hoping now the shit has already hit the fan they will just keep that horror momentum going.

reply

I doubt that will be the case, i think the melodrama will keep on although i hope i'm wrong. but maybe the Horror will be enough to make up for that.

It was a terrible episode. Definitely not a good pilot to make people watch the rest of the season. The acting is just bad (mostly) and the show feels cheap.

That being said, the second and third episodes are a little better because they are more focused in the mist and the horrors that come with it.

I'm 17 mins in, and I'm not usually one to nitpick and complain about actors, but holy shit. The teenage girl is awful. The acting in general actually feels very wooden.

I've watched the first 2 eps and will watch the 3rd (the first 3 eps are available). I think the special effects are creepy enough and are working but I kind of agree that the character development has been lacking. I don't mind the melodrama but they have to sell it and some of the actors (the wife and the daughter, in particular) aren't selling it so good for me.

Without getting too spoilerish...I don't get the point of the whole teen rapey jock and angsty teen aspect.
... Nor the 2nd episode with the wife concerning a gun; ...are we suppose to imagine her instincts are that good or didn't it seem she over reacted? I suppose they'll end up letting us know she was in the right but the scene didn't sit right with me. It's not unusual for someone to have a gun in the USA..particularly when I was already wondering why they didn't have one when going into a dangerous area.
I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
The husband so far is almost too good a guy...and the gay friend with make up seems like a character where they're checking off some boxes.
