Does anyone that studies mythology know what the name of the woodland spirit is?

I was fascinated by it. Unlike anything I've ever seen before. Is it based on any known Norse folklore or was it created for the film?

Jotunn...based on Norse mythology. Its a bastard offspring of Loki

There's some interesting background on the Jötunn (thankfully I had captions on; this is what the woman in the cabin told Luke the creature was).
