And "Siren" was the best short in both VHS movies, far better than the movie that was made after the short. So he did the best short in The Signal too. So finally he got a movie.
The movie is released in internet in a few days :-) anobody has seen in the big screen? is it as good as the shorts?
Didn't realize it was the same guy (David Bruckner). I liked Siren (the movie not so much as the short).
Saw The Ritual yesterday and I liked it a lot. Not as much as Siren because that "spoke" to me more but The Ritual is definitely worth watching as far as I am concerned. VERY well made. Cool cinematography, very decent acting and suspenseful to say the least.

Although, just so you know, you are thinking of Amauter Night. That was the name of the short.
Siren was the spin off movie, which wasn't very good.
True, the short was Amateur Night. Though it's easy to refer as Siren, the short. Writers and directors were different, though, even when both are connected (the movie is supposed to happen before the short).
The movie, well... was not an awful movie. Quite watchable provided you watch it with low expectations. Far from Bruckner's original short, though.
Another good one was Southbound, which I liked and I had no idea was from the same guy. Just checking imdb now.
Southbound was OK it just didn't make a lot of sense, did it?
shareIt makes sense, though it's true that it's not obvious. The movie is full of little clues. After I saw, I googled internet looking for explanations, that kind of threads where people speculate and all the small pieces are connected, which is almost as fun as watching the movie.

SIREN is pretty much the only watchable part of VHS imo. Even though the competition is weak in the movie SIREN is a really cool short horror story. You can skip the others.

The Ritual was great, The Night House was outstanding and he's directed the Hellraiser reboot which we'll hopefully see sometime this year. I'm getting my hopes up for that one.
