... So, essentially this movie is about an outta-this-world/ otherworldly kid with ailments no one can fully comprehend, who needs the metaphoric blood, sweat, and tears of beneficent people in this world in order to survive?

That's my unasked-for two-cents. How did you interpret the goings-on in this movie?

Laura/Anna was raped by the devil. She gave birth to a devil who ate flesh. Once he grows and becomes more powerful, he will handle it on his own. Like Daddy ;-)
