Where was the mom when the older brother was beating up Stevie at night? Didn’t she ever set any ground rules for her children? Who lets their 13 year old kid wander around like that ?

13 is 8th grade. I knew of no 8th graders who were allowed to run around unsupervised at night. Some may have snuck out, but the norm was not little kids out and about after dark.
shareSure, we weren't allowed to be out all night. But it was a different time and place in history. I had a curfew which was around midnight. Small towns are a little different though...

shareEarly 90s we sure did. That was 2 parent homes as well. I can't say for 1997 as I was an adult by then, but I lived in a pretty safe neighbourhood and at 13 I was allowed out at night.
