The whole Adrenochrome from kids thing comes from Hunter Thompson, who didn't mention kids specifically--just from living persons--and was just joking around. But he probably got it from Norman Spinrad in Bug Jack Barron, and he did have a substance harvested from captive dying children for the immortality of the rich.
