Joel's mood swings *semi spoliers*

As the series progresses. He gets weird mood swings. When he is overly emotional and cries at the Hawaii story and a few other times. Later he gets kinda snippy. There's no real explanation to his moodiness. I thought there was going to be some weird twist where was going to be the antidote to the virus. Did I miss an explanation? Seemed emphasized for a reason and then just dropped off...

I just finished the series and I agree - that really went nowhere. I *guess* it was just to show that he was genuinely having an emotional reaction to what was happening around him? But it didn't really fit, so I also thought they were going to wrap it into the main plot.

On the other hand, since they've basically taken a break right in the middle of the story, they'll have a chance to pick up on it again in the next season.

He started getting emotional after he killed Dan. I thought it made sense and was pretty clear what those scenes were about. It was sorta explained in the scene where he is talking to Dan's corpse in the tub.
He starts getting snippy when Dr Wolf tells them that there is no cure. He explains that to Sheila when they are in the baka's house. Sheila even calls him out for being mad.
I hope I explained myself, English is not my first language

I think he was just having a nervous breakdown. Everything that was happening was way too much for him to handle.

Okay well his wife is now dead and a zombie, and requires human flesh to survive. He has a corrupt sheriff living next door to him trying to take advantage and then he has to deal with murdering him.

I thought it was pretty clear he was just having a mental breakdown. Which is pretty much confirmed at the end when he can't keep it together for the therapist and ends up hospitalized. How did they "drop it" exactly?
