Very Low IMDB Rating Par for the Course?

Haters gonna hate when they haven't even seen the movie?

reply

I will wait to score the movie after I see it. I just don't understand why people are so stupid on IMDB.

reply

I must say the movie looked really bad to me from the previews. I was so surprised to see the high score on Rotten Tomatoes, and then I also read somewhere something like "expect to be thoroughly moved". Go figure.

I'll reserve my judgment until (and if) I watch the movie myself.

reply

It's not a bad movie. I really liked it a lot. The racist people who haven't seen it are giving it a low rating. Typical.

reply

Maybe it is the "racist people" who made the movie.

reply

The movie is not at all racist. I guess you wouldn't know that since you didn't see it.

reply

It's literally s_t. It's disgustingly awful.

reply

What about it is so bad?

reply

I'll try to be concise as possible.

-It's clearly meant to reflect real-life social relations but was utterly disingenuous and ham-fisted in its portrayal of white people and people who 'don't understand' the BLM movements.
- The story suggests that all black people fear the police or suffer some form of discrimination solely for the color of their skin.
-The main character was a moron, nor did she come off as someone from a 'bad neighborhood'. She had zero chemistry with her friend.
-Her white boyfriend was even more appalling.
- The story was incredibly shallow and had a neat and tidy ending. We have a threatening gang presence that was just erased because a single person was arrested (how??). The REAL threat to the moron's life were the 'POC' in that gang.
-The dialogue of the white friend and the police officer were appalling embarrassments. If they need to make things up to prove their point, that that shows how their point is Bulls_t.

Metascore 82. MC user rating 6.0, IMDb rating 6.3.
It's the lefty elite critics that are out of touch.

For every imdb 1* review there are two 10*s. Mostly fake, ignoring them shows a peak at 8* and lower average.

reply

I don't understand why imdb can't just make it to where you can't vote/review until after the movie is released. That will stop a lot of fake and unnecessary stuff.

reply

Of course, it's what the internet does.
