Quite the disappointing series finale.....

Apparently, not too many viewers of this series finale.

Sadly, this is another one of those programs where creators missed the boat by having zero likable characters. That failure creates a viewing environment where not many care too much whether a character lives or dies.

Though, I do have to remark that Leila George did a really good job of capturing the alluring evilness of Smurf.

With that, the ending was not satisfying at all and was an illustration of a contrast between a good series finale and a poor one.

I’ve only watched this final season. Enjoyed it a lot. Thought the end was dark and wonderfully tragic. Nobody wins, because nobody really deserved to. But as far as criminal sagas go, I thought this one was quite interesting, and I think they did a good job of weaving past and present timelines into one coherent narrative.
Now I want to see the movie it was based on, and if I get the chance I will definitely check out the earlier seasons.
Agree with you about young Smurf. That character was cold and scary, the actress did a great job. I also thought young Pope did a good job of channeling the older Pope.

Oh, you are so right about the one actor that played the young Pope. He captured that unpredictable menace so well.

I had to laugh how the creator say Pope had to die because he was a killer. yet Jay, gets away with everything also a killer and turned more into a monster then any of the brothers at the end.

watching the movie you actually feel for Jay and just want him to be on top by the end the pilot actually copies some things out of the movie but goes a completely different direction Pope is a terrible person in the movie a psychopath, in the tv series they try and make is sympathies for him. and Smurf is not even evil in the movie she is a victim. the movie was based on a true story about a criminal family in the 90s. I actually am Australian remember reading about it.

the tv series felt like that at the start but the problem was by the end they tried to Walter White him but it backfired and actually made us hate him by the end.

Dunno how Darren thinks he is suppose to help look after Craig son he is going to jail for sure or would be on the run with not much cash.

I thought it was ok, every time i read opinions about a finale in any tv series usually everyone calls it disappointing.

Before the last 10 minutes no one knew what would happen or what would be revealed, all of them could have escaped, all of them could have died, etc... also showed how heartless young Smurf was not letting pregnant Julia back which matched pretty well with the badassness and personality of old Smurf in the earlier seasons.
