I made a comment about this watching the other prison show.....the behind bars rookie yr. It's really disheartening to see that damn near every one of these guards is morbidly obese. I wouldn't trust them with my life, if we were working together and something popped off three floors up. This is Def one of those jobs where they should have physical requirements to get the job and yearly fitness tests to keep the job.

Maybe it's all the rejects who either couldn't pass the physical requirements for police/sheriff jobs, or they washed out of the academy for similar reasons. Maybe a lot of obese people who want to work in law enforcement kinda get "filtered down" to security guard and correctional jobs, because the physical requirements are more lax... Who knows? That would be my guess, though (assuming there is a correlation; if there really is a higher percentage of obesity in that line of work).
