i know people dislike ryan

and i did for the first half of the season but the last half i started to like him
he knew who to make friends with, who to talk to, how to start a business (which was unnecessary, but hes the one dealing with this daily instead of hourly once a week like we are)
he knew how to not aggravate the psycho that isnt taking his meds. he knew how to adapt his speech to the inmates.

he just seems incredibly intelligent to me, and i have to respect that. he adapted to every situation.

zach was my favorite last season for similar reasons but hes obviously being made to seem like a villain for the show this season, which i will admit, he seems like a major douche.

Ryan was easily my favorite of Season 2 though I liked everybody.

reply

Have to agree. Disliked him first half liked him the 2nd. He adapted well.

my fav too!
I could defiantly see his Army training. I am sure he excelled as a medic, and does seem very intelligent. I will admit, I adore his accent..simply because he is from my neck of the woods so it is comforting for me (strange, I know...lol)

I can't die! I have 43 twitter followers that depend on me! oh, and I have a daughter.

reply

Where is the from?

reply

Somewhere in KY...although I live in middle TN

If he were extremely intelligent he'd be able to do what he was asked to do and understand what the officers were talking about. He was delusional, entitled, and arrogant. He was saved by the Sheriff and the production.

I don't think he was more intelligent than Garza and the others that probably had plans for using him before he was removed.

He didn't really handle Ricky, that psycho was just getting started before the Calvary came n and said he could go home.

There were falws in his "strategies" but time was on his side. He thought he was a mastermind, but didn't really master anything.

Ryan liked it in jail. Selling commissary to the jail inmates he saw dollars signs.

reply

Yeah, he liked it too much. Lol

reply

He only made even trades.

Luckily, Ryan did not run into someone that would screwed him over. It would of been tough trying to appear to be a man while not part taking in a fight.

reply

Ryan ensured that he wouldn't get screwed over by only making even trades, and not extending any credit. You may have missed that, but he explained that fully. He avoided that problem completely by how he ran his store.

Ryan is a bright guy, and the Sheriff and his sidekick are wrong, in my opinion, to say that Ryan was making a mistake by being (in their words) "too inmatey". He was becoming as real an inmate as he could while still maintaining his mission to gather information. They should have embraced his approach: he set up a store, gained some influence by doing so, and made only even trades and didn't do any credit. He outsmarted the inmates AND the sheriff by how he operated.

Much respect for Ryan and his tactic, IMO.

I agree with you Masterbid... I thought his approaches were discredited simply to create a villain of sorts for S2, editing played a huge role in helping the show push that narrative... Zack did similar activities, maybe even worse and editing was done to make him look like a hero. I don't get how people can fall for that kind of stuff so easily.

what i disliked about him was watching him in the aftermath episode. he was grinning and laughing when watching some pretty bad footage.
