Question about end of first episode

We see the husband and wife finally have sex, and she seems very pleasantly surprised by how hard he is. But the sex is over quickly.

Then the next morning, she's playing up traditional gender roles - and they were told earlier in the episode that couples with traditional gender roles have more sex.

So is the idea that she was disappointed with the sex, and so now she's going to try to improve their sex lives?

Or is the idea that she was pleased with the sex, and she thinks the good sex happened because she dressed up like a housewife earlier, and so now she's doing it again because she wants the hot sex to continue?

I actually read the ending completely differently. It seems like it's supposed to be read through subtext, and body language. After they tried so hard with the costumes the wife seemed ready to give up. When the husband is grabbing her, and kissing her and clearly still wants to have sex, she continues getting ready for bed, and even puts in her mouth guard. Then it seems like the husband almost tries too hard to appear more masculine. Like when she climbs on top of him, he then aggressively flips her over and gets back on top. He flips her over, and holds her head down. Also, I don't know if it was just the actress's portrayal, but it seems like she's faking. And then the final scene, with the wife aggressively finishing breakfast, coupled with the dramatic music, it seems like she's actually unsatisfied, but she's so in love with her husband she is willing to take steps in order to make him feel more masculine and empowered, and ease his insecurity, even if she has to fake orgasms, or take on traditional gender roles from time to time.

Upon rewatch, I think she enjoyed the sex.

You're right that she acted uninterested when he first came onto her when she was getting ready for bed. She didn't seem to think he was actually proposing sex. But then she felt how hard he was, and she seemed very happy. After it was over, she had a smile on her face, and a look of pleasant surprise.

It was very quick, but I think that was just because they didn't have time in the episode for an extended sex scene. I don't think the quickness was meant to indicate that it was unsatisfying.

It was probably quick because he humped her in her pooper. She liked it cause it was erotic.

Only a man would watch this and think she was somehow satisfied. She was clearly faking it.

Just what I was thinking. The men thought she liked it, when it's so obvious she was faking and did not enjoy it! It was written all over her face.

the idea is that she was disappointed with the sex. she is dissatisfied with her sex life. i dont think she is trying to improve anything. she is just thinking that she has what she has and she has to live with it. she still loves her husband but she feels like there is nothing more there. i see it that way because they have to try so hard to have sex. then when they finally do she is disappointed. have you ever been in a relationship where you know something is not right or that the relationship is not all that good? That's exactly what she realises. but she is married and she really loves him. she feels terrible that she is unattracted to him and that is why she felt the need to tell him how much she loves him and how much she is proud of him. she said that out of guilt because of the way she felt even before they had the sex. having sex just confirmed that she cannot shake that feeling.

Thank you for clearing that out for me in particular. I bet you're probably right.
I was intrigued because the sex ended that fast and, it was kind of abrupt she definitely didn't enjoy it at all. I also tought that she wasn't pleased but i didn't fully get the end and why she appeared pleased the next morning and it was because she felt faking it was that was the best for her marriage. Maybe that way it would improve the sex on the long run. Just like the theory of the beggining, so everything loops back to proove that the theory was right in the first place.

I'm a male, and I could tell from the start that she DID NOT enjoy it. It was actually very disturbing to watch. I really hope I'm wrong, but it seemed to show she was acting subservient to let him feel more like the "man of the house" so sex would be better...or rather because it was something that weighed so heavy on his mind - his inability to perform, and the way she saw it, his inability to become "rock hard".

Great performances by those two. Best of all the episodes in my humble opinion.

I believe she did enjoy it and my take on the last scene was that she was cooking breakfast in an apron to see it her having a traditional role really will improve their sex life. I think she is hopeful as is her husband. At least they are trying, not satisfying themselves with vibrators and porn. They reconnected. I am sure it was a positive ending.

She enjoyed it initially because he was hard and was pleased that he was into it. However, it didn't last very long and then he walks off, thus fufilling traditional male stereotype of satisfying himself but not lasting long or spending any time pleasing her, so she looks disappointed and dejected at the end. However she a realises that allowing him to be the "man" and leaving him to initiate sex rather than initiating it and taking control herself is what turns him on and allows him to feel masculine, thus she adopts a more stereotypical female role in the morning.
