WOW! I can't believe Toby was fired!

He was always so dedicated.

It's shocking...how will the producers fill that void?

His job was his life!!!

reply

Maybe he can get a job at the Fat Farm where he met Kate!

reply

Back when this was IMDB chat, we all hated Toby and felt like he was a lame and manipulating character.

i don't think he offers anything than to let you know that a really overweight woman can date and get married.

reply

He had a paying job? Seemed to me like his full time job was to try to act tough to protect his overly sensitive obese wife from things that happened in 1998.

That CD store boyfriend guy should have told kate to piss off, then walked over to Toby's car, tapped on his window, and then punched him through the glass

reply

What was his job? I thought his income came from buying and selling Star Wars crap on eBay. When did he ever go to work? He’s either home or at his secret gym.

reply

He was in Information Technology. As stated below, unless you're specifically doing PROGRAMMING, the job field is very difficult to describe "what we do".

reply

Is this being sarcastic? A lot of us don't even remember what his job was

reply

Yes it was sarcasm. I saw him "working" for aa whole 15 seconds in one episode and never saw him work again. It hard to believe they can even afford a home.

reply

I imagine it was probably a marketing job of a product that is not very interesting. Sort of like the question in “Friends” of “What does Chandler do?”

TV has problems with jobs that are difficult to describe. For that matter, people like to have some type of shorthand for jobs. Kevin is an actor. Everyone knows what that is. Randell is a Counsel member. This is easier to understand than what he did before (A financial analyst that determined options trading based on weather patterns.)

reply

He works in Information Technology. This field can definitely be "difficult to describe", unless you're a Programmer, Database Analyst (DBA), or manager. There are lots of other jobs mixed in that are Engineers, Architects, or Specialists, and to outsiders, are extremely difficult to describe.
