It was neither. The pilot was very funny and not at all serious. There was NO violence and no blood. All fight scenes were comical and PG at most. If I had to compare it to anything else in terms of how dark or violent it is, I'd say it's about as dark and violent as Power Rangers so not at all.

You apparently don't understand what the term "dark" means in this context. This show was very dark. It wasn't "gritty" in any way, but I haven't noticed anyone claiming it was. As a fan of the cartoon and TV series, I was extremely disappointed with this. Not because it was dark, but because it wasn't at all funny.
