Wow, this was really good!

I didn't know what to expect when I watched this on Netflix tonight. It had a different type of humor, but I laughed a lot, and the film had a great heart to it, which is pretty rare these days. I know Sandler has put out a ton of garbage the last decade or so, but he and everyone in the cast did a phenomenal job in this film! He really redeemed himself with this one! It shows he can still be funny while giving a very solid "grown up" (pun intended) performance. I thought Elizabeth Marvel stood out as well in her supporting role as Jean...she played Jean as such a nice, but strange and awkward, lady you couldn't help but feel bad for her.

A really good movie, glad I watched it!

Loved it.

Yes it was. Baumbach is one of the best directors working today.

Yeah, I considered turning off after half an hour or so because I found the scenes with his daughter at the beginning a bit cheesy, but I thought once we got to see Matthews character, it picked up, and I saw the value of the first act... I enjoyed it.

Sandler absolutely kills it. So does Stiller for that matter.

Yes, this was much better than I expected. I enjoyed all of the acting, especially Hoffman. A pretty good dark comedy; lots of drama mixed with comedy. The father reminded me so much of my parents in that he would ask a question and then proceed to talk and talk without ever even getting an answer and then when you are trying to answer, he would just talk over you going on to the next topic lol

I was underwhelmed. I didn't really have much of a point. 6/10
