I know many of the original voice actors have passed on, and I'm very glad they're at least getting Tony Anselmo back to play Donald, because let's face it, only HE could do it, but why not bring back Russi Taylor, Terrance McGovern, Chuck McCann, Brian Cummings, June Foray and Frank Welker? I don't think we old fans could accept anyone other than Terrance voicing Launchpad, and whereas Russi could voice Huey, Dewey, Louie AND Webby, they needed to hire four separate actors. Is this new cartoon going to be non-union or did they not even bother asking the surviving cast?
Wish Terence McGovern got called back especially since he really wanted to reprise the role. Thought Russi Taylor would still play the triplets. I'm quite happy with the casting of David Tennant as Scrooge though.
It's understandable they don't have Alan Young as Scrooge (though they didn't know he'd die at the time - I wonder if they even tried reaching out?), but a lot of the rest of the surviving cast that they didn't use really baffle me.
actually the co producer did say that they wanted the old voice actors to voice a bunch of new characters in the new series, they did have a plan for alan young but sadly he passed away for the kids, they probably want them to have more distinct personalities by having them wearing a different outfit and voice actors, which is interesting. i'm just hoping that its not gonna be like quack pack.
for me tho as a fan, as long as the stories good, i'm okay with the reboot.
(sorry if my grammar is no good, english isnt my first native)
I don't have high hopes for the reboot. Voices aside, the animation looks weird. But here's something I hope we get out of this: to promote the NEW DuckTales, I'd like for Disney to release the complete series of OLD DuckTales. All 100 episodes in a box set that looks like Scrooge's money bin.
...I have wanted to see them release the final volume on DVD...but I never knew I wanted a complete series that looks like the Money Bin until now! That would be awesome! Maybe include some special features ( look a look at Carl Barks, a tribute to Alan Young etc).
Man, now I want a complete Rescue Ranger set that looks like their tree, a TaleSping complete series that looks like the Sea Duck, A Darkwing set that looks like the bridge, and a Gargoyles collection that looks like the castle keep!

Don't forget Goof Troop shaped like Goofy's house. Or Mighty Ducks shaped like a hockey puck.
To be honest, I hope they can have Anselmo tone down the duckiness of Donald's voice somewhat just so they can give him more substantial dialogue without needing to use the "what did he say?" running joke or repetition to ensure everyone understands it. If they adapt many of the comics somewhat faithfully, without switching a character like Launchpad into Donald's role, it's going to be difficult to minimise important dialogue from Donald. (Certainly possible they don't plan to adapt any comics, of course, I'm just hoping they do.)
Alan Young wouldn't have been back for this, after having passed away prior. I'm sure David Tennant will do a good job, we already heard his performance as Scrooge for the first time in that Mickey Mouse Christmas Special, though he went uncredited, which they sadly didn't record before Alan Young's Death. As for Russi Taylor, I think she could be retiring from Voice Acting, so the Triplets and Webby now have their own voice actors (Huey, Dewey and Louie have Male Voice Actors now). As for June Foray, though she'll be 100 this year and is still fairly active, I can see that Magica will probably be recasted as well. As for the other surviving cast members, I have no idea why they'd be recasted, not even the replacements for Gyro, Glomgold, Fenton and Mrs. Beakley in DuckTales Remastered are reprising their characters.
I've never understood why they wait so long to bring shows back, they always seem to do it when it's too late and half of the original cast has passed.
