Is it just me, or those this sound like Assignment Earth: The Sequel? Trekkies will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Incidentally, the proposed Assignment Earth series was not a "time travel" story per se. It was about a human raised on another planet who was returned to Earth to help the humans avoid our own extinction. The only aspect of time travel in the Star Trek episode was the interference of the Enterprise crew who traveled back to Earth in the late 1960s and stumbled on to Gary Seven's assignment.
