I wanted to love it

I love a good sci fi tale and was looking forward to this show. Kind of bummed to be disappointed here was my reasons.

1. Multiple penis jokes in first five minutes. Seemed forced, weak writing and not funny.
2. Too political. What was the rant. Very racial slant in couple of places and unecessary...OJ did it and we don't care. Why is Hollywood always trying to divide us up into groups or make some kind of statement? Kind of ruined it for me.
3. A bomb and a timer...really??? Not very original

When you compare to a time travel show like Outlander there is no comparison in quality of acting, writing and production value. Network television has really become second rate tv. All the best shows are on cable, streaming and premium channels.

Just an opinion...what was your thoughts?

I agree. I kind of liked it, but had the same problems you had. Maybe it will improve.

Me too. I wanted me some good sci-fi. Not hopeful...
1) A quick way to establish the heroine as a feminist is the LBJ joke. Upside: LBJ was Democrat. (Phew.)
2) Agree. The Black monologue was a little too Schmactery for me. I woulda liked more subtlety than rant.
3) Agree. Perhaps more compact/easy to transport in a time machine than two tons of fertilizer?

4) Irked me how the radio reporter was performing like it was 2016. Anyone who's heard that "Oh the humanity" recording will know it was very much in the theatrical 30s style of radio. "Oh the humanity" sounded like a guy selling Armani cologne.
5) The hero, Logan. Wait. If he was military, he wouldn't mess around with history by hitting no the journalist babe. If he's a special ops guy, he wouldn't be so cream puff.
6) For a nanosecond when I saw Lucy with Logan at top of show, I'll admit I got a glimmer of "Moonlighting" possibilities. But then I remembered: this is the crappy 2010s and the writing can't be anywhere near as sharp and clever as the 80s.
6) I was impressed with the 1930s New Jersey airy scene. Some paint to get authenticity going...
7) What? No debriefing after returning from 1937? "We'll get ahold of you...?" That's dopey. And the writers don't care, either. 9) Abigail Spencer is carrying all the water here -- SPLENDIDLY. She was a good choice as Lucy.

Everything you said was exactly on point. Also, what is all this push for strong female leads in everything? Even Star Wars is in on it. Feels forced like propaganda..like Hollywood saying time for a female president. Also, where are all the good writers?? What a waste to spend all that money for lousy writing. Give me some kick ass writing like John Milius.
