Because I'm not seeing it. He brings nothing to the table. Is it me or are characters like him being shoehorned into every tv show. I mean they are always good-looking but not necessary. He is like Jake McLaughlin in Quantico.
shareHe is pretty and the white male surrogate. Honestly, I could do with out him. It would make the show more interesting if the travels where all historians. It creates a challenge instead of having the super delta force guy fight everybody.

Really, him traveling with the group makes sense since they need to either capture or kill Visnjic's character. They need someone who is capable of that, and their pilot doesn't quite seem up to the task.
I don't really buy him being Delta Force or being a master sergeant, but having a character that is either military/law enforcement/a combat background makes sense to a certain extent.
