A more grounded QUANTUM LEAP/Voyagers

Yes, there's some big differences, but overall, this seems like Quantum Leap with a team instead of just Sam leaping around inside of people. Other than that, we're going to visit all sorts of important dates in history.

I swear I'm waiting for Jon-Erik Hexum to show up from the 1982 show VOYAGERS.

I'll watch for a bit, but I don't see this show doing much that hasn't already been done before. Maybe if there hadn't already been 100's of shows and films dealing with time travel, it would feel more novel. But this just seems like another rehash. Time travel has been done to death.

A couple differences: Quantum Leap wasn't able to come back to the present (or starting point). Quantum Leap often went back to help ordinary people get through ordinary events.

Yep. That's why I started with "Yes, there's some big differences".

But they are going to leap into the past on a weekly basis.

I don't know. I like the concept, but time travel has been done to death in films and TV. About the only Sci Fi franchise I can think of that hasn't delved into the topic is Star Wars and Alien. For Star Trek, time travel is a crutch they use whenever they can't think of a fresh idea.

I hope this plays out well, but it's got it's work cut out. I'll tune back in for a few episodes to see what they do with it. But I just don't see fans celebrating "The 100th episode of TIMELESS". I hope I'm wrong, and I hope it's something great. It just didn't feel that way in the pilot. But a lot of pilots feel awkward because they are cramming so much into 39 minutes of airtime in an attempt to sell the show. We'll see.

This would require an actual time machine, sent back to a point before his death.
