Pitching a phony "Glass Ceiling" to the general public

For a lot of people like myself, I think what makes the TV show "Pitch" so cringe inducing (like, nails on a chalkboard cringe inducing) it's that the series absolutely demands that its audience accept without question some silly notion that a "Glass Ceiling" for woman athletes exists in Major League Baseball.

Much in the same way that the very real segregation of African-Americans existed for decades in Major League baseball, which prevented many superior black athletes from competing against inferior white athletes, based entirely upon the color of their skin, until the 1940's. And, it's this mythical "Glass Ceiling" for woman that supposedly exists today which prevents many aspiring female baseball players from ever competing in the major leagues, despite having the physical capabilities to do so.

Okay, not only am I calling total BS on that silly idea. But, I also want to clearly state that, "There is no "Glass Ceiling" for female Athletes in professional sports anywhere in America. It simply does not exist.".

The fact is, that if there truly was a woman somewhere in the world who could pitch like Nolan Ryan, or hit home runs like Hank Aaron, or threw touchdowns like Tom Brady. Then, every baseball and football franchise in professional sports would be crawling all over each other to sign that woman up to a multi-million dollar contract.

However, because no woman has ever proven that she is physically capable of competing against male athletes in professional baseball, or any other professional sport for that matter, we have yet to witness the female equivalent of a Nolan Ryan, Joe Montana, Lebron James or a Bo Jackson.

If Hollywood and the media in general are looking to blame someone for preventing woman from competing against men in professional sports like baseball, football or basketball?

Then, don't blame some phony "Glass Ceiling" for woman athletes that doesn't actually exist. When you should be pointing your collective SJW fingers squarely in the direction of Darwinism and possibly Mother Nature herself for allowing female homo-sapiens to evolve in such a way that, woman are in fact inferior athletes in a chosen sport, when compared to male athletes in the same sport.

Isn't the opposite of a 'glass ceiling' the situation here? She's made it to the team partly on merit, but also simply because the first woman pitcher will sell tickets. Then when she fails and would normally have been cut, she's given another chance because she's a woman.

This was one of the better articulated objections to this type of programming.

Did you even watch the show? I think you didn't because none of what you write about, is what this show is about. You said, "The fact is, that if there truly was a woman somewhere in the world who could pitch like Nolan Ryan, .... Then, every baseball and football franchise in professional sports would be crawling all over each other to sign that woman up...."

Well, this show is about that woman. They found a woman who could do that. The show is trying to paint a picture of what she would go through. And what she would go through isn't going to be all bad nor all good. The show is showing that mixed reaction of the nation towards the first female pitcher.

Did you even watch the show? Because, if you did... then you should've noticed that from the very beginning of the season premier of "Pitch", it often compared Ginny Baker joining the San Diego Padres to being the equivalent of Jackie Robinson breaking baseballs color barrier in 1947.

So, if the series "Pitch" was really just a fictional sports tale about a skinny young woman that can supposedly throw a variety of pitches in the high 80's. Then why all the references to Jackie Robinson breaking the "very real" color barrier nearly 70-years ago, in the first 10-minutes of the show?

How is being a genetic female freak that can physically do what no other woman is capable of doing, akin to banning all African-American's from competing for a position in the Major Leagues against white Americans, despite being more talented?

Why would young girls aspire to become "The Next Ginny Baker" if they aren't born as genetically abnormal as Ginny Baker was? It's like someone aspiring to become the next Frank Sinatra, despite being born without the ability to sing or dance.

This is why the series "Pitch" is obviously implying that there is some type of misogynistic social barrier that also exists in baseball today, which is preventing young women from realizing their personal dreams of becoming professional baseball players. And, that this mythical "Glass Ceiling" for aspiring female athletes everywhere is just as difficult to break through in modern professional baseball as the color barrier was for African-American's prior to the late 1940's.

When in fact the only real gender barrier that exists for woman athletes is their own natural genetic design, which makes them inferior to men in the area of overall physical ability, and athleticism in general.

So, instead of referring to the genetic freak Ginny Baker as "Hillary Clinton with sex appeal", or, "A Kardasian with a skill set". The series should be describing Ginny Baker as a freak show attraction like "A midget that can play in the NBA", or, "The Bearded Lady with sex appeal and a skill set", and drop all these references to Jackie Robinson breaking baseballs color barrier in the 1940's, because it really makes no sense.

Honestly, I don't see the issue with the comparison. I don't see why it has you so bothered it. The comparison isn't same it's the same exact thing, but the occasion itself is something (almost) as big as the color barrier or, at the very least, it is for those born after Jackie integrated baseball.

Basically, from what I have gathered from sports enthusiasts, one of the main driving reasons girls/women don't play baseball seriously past a certain age is because 1. they are transitioned to softball 2. may have interests in other sports that they could seriously pursue. She's not seen as a freak athlete, but rather, someone incredibly talented who worked her butt off and stuck with the sport.

Because "The Next Ginny Baker" gives girls the encouragement to stick with something they love if they are good at it--it's not just about baseball and, even if it was, I don't see how that's a bad thing. You don't have to be a freak you just have to have talent and specialize in certain areas to gain an advantage. What you're criticizing is speed and maybe inability to produce large quantities of testosterone.

Actually THERE IS a barrier for women when it comes to sports, even those that women play professional. Growing up, I was constantly written off whenever I wanted to play basketball with guys, and then I'd either get picked last or do a 1 on 1 and prove myself, and then I was taken seriously. I've NEVER seen any guy unless he admitted he couldn't play OR they've seen him play. But, no one believes it when a girl says she can play until she proves she can. It was something I used to my advantage when I played. They'd leave me open and I'd score a 3 or do a layup, and then they started to guard me.

Inferior....*yikes*

Here's the thing: she'd be described as having a freak talent, BUT Ginny IS attractive. Notice in both examples her beauty is indicated in some way--they'd never market her without mentioning her looks.

"And even with Will dead, the love triangle is not over."

Except the fastest pitch ever thrown by a woman is 69 mph. I threw faster than that when I was 16.

No they wouldn't. Women will probably never be allowed to compete vs. men, because that is un-PC, because the women would get skunked every time, and everyone would laugh at them, and then feminazis would complain about how women are being humiliated.

Thus, we have never seen any professional sports that allow women to play against men. And we never will, until/unless such time comes as some leagues get enough courage to tell feminazis to go jump in the lake. Until/unless that time comes, women competing vs. men will always remain forbidden.

Actually, God made men and women that way, not darwinism, not evolution, and not mother nature. But yes, feminazis can go right ahead and blame God, whilst He laughs at them from His Kingly Patriarchal Throne in Heaven.
