The same as Supergirl

I am noticing that a lot of the criticism for this show is the exact same junk that was being said when Supergirl first premiered. All of this monkey dung about PC this and feminism that.. It is like some of you dolts can't stand that every single show, and I do mean every one is not catering to male ego. Does the existence of shows that seek to highlight strong female characters really offend you that much? Just go and watch something else if it does...damn.

Yeah sexism and misogyny is alive and well on IMDB

They have made of sport of bashing and downvoting female led shows. Isnt the white male- led CBS weekly line up not enough for them? They should go catch up over there.

And leave this board for those who are interested in this show.

Supergirl is fantastical. I suspect no one is saying only male super heroes can fly or have super strength.

Pitch is sold as a futurist drama not a fantasy.

This denial of human sexual dimorphism is irritating. Each sex has their own traits. On average: One is better at feats of physical strength. One is better at steady long endurance. One is better with language. One is better with logic. One is better with empathy. One is better at fighting. That's just the way it is, no matter what they taught you in gender studies class. That doesn't make either more important than the other, it just makes them different from one another.

This collective dumbing down of society is potentially dangerous in my opinion. Pushing demonstrably untrue tropes shouldn't be ignored despite the social stigmatism you'll get for saying the emperor has no clothes. Ignoring this will lead to an unhappy society.

If this show is making you this upset, then I seriously can not wait for the series that features the first female to play running back in the NFL. That should make you want to kill yourself.

reply

I'm not upset. I'm just doing my very small part to counter the dumbing down of the world.

Exactly "on average," the whole point of this is that she's not average, I'm positive that's how she got in the major leagues y3ni they didn't pick her name out of a fish tank of every woman who's ever played baseball in any capacity

reply

Key words that you seem to be ignoring in your own comment are "on average".

Yes, on average, a man will be able to out run and out lift a woman; the strongest man in the world is highly likely to beat the strongest female in the world if they get into a fight. But I'm sure there are quite a few women who could out pitch, out run, and out think you!

How do you know there isn't a good enough woman out there capable of out pitching enough male baseball players to justify making the league?

That's my problem. I face the fact that "on average", men are stronger than women, but why can't the ABOVE average woman get the chance to compete if she wants to? Same goes for women in the military. These women who volunteer to join the military and work to stay fit and trained are likely to be "ABOVE average for women", but they're likely to be capable of whipping most average Joes like you who would only otherwise make the cut in a desperate draft.

This show is a good story of how things might go if this were to be tried. In my opinion.

Major League Baseball is the best of the best. "Average" does not apply there.

Sure it is. And how many players are there in the entire league? Couple hundred? You really don't think there's a chance that there could be one woman in the world that could be in the top 200 in the world?

Besides, they have addressed a very reasonable possibility: the GI Jane scenario....that they only hired her for the press and to get over the "equality" issue in hopes that she would fail or quit, thus ending the issue. She hasn't quit, and she has to continue to work to prove herself worthy to play in the pros along with the men.

Actually Supergirl wasn't really all that feminist. Other than the whole working woman angle. It was mostly another lame dumb-down CW-Style Super-Hero show. This on the other hand. Seems like it could have been written by Andrea Dworkin Herself.

If you really think that, your wires are crossed. Supergirl was ridiculously over-the-top feminist (at least in the first several episodes of the first season), while the only real feminist bits on Pitch come from the annoying female talk show host and Ginny's agent. Hell, Superman himself was constantly beat down in order to prop up Supergirl.
