Ginny is the worst part of the series...

Like most everyone else, I was intrigued by the idea of a series surrounding a female MLB player. I've found myself enjoying the show a lot, but not because of her. I find her character to be unlikable and simply not that compelling compared to a lot of her teammates. I really love the GM/Owner/Manager scenes and all the associated scenes relating to the player movement, it's well paced and feels almost Sorkin-esque in the way it flows. The baseball scenes are not bad enough to detract from the show, but I just wish they'd made Ginny a knuckleball pitcher or at least a lefty instead as it would be more realistic.

In the end, I enjoy the show and will watch it until they cancel it or until it starts getting too deep into that evening-soap territory that Empire quickly devolved into.

She just started throwing a cutter, so it's a bit soon to start experimenting with a new pitch. But I wondered the same thing. The first episode made it a point that Ginny topped out at 80 - 85 MPH. A knuckleball along with her screwball would make since, because they dob't care about speed at all. Did Phil or Joe Niekro, Wilbur Wood, Hoyt Wilhelm, Chris Candiotti or Tim Wakefield care about speed? Nope. Carl Hubbel invented the screwball and I doubt he cared about speed either.

But how the hell can you say Ginny's the worst part of the show? Ginny Baker and her relationship with Mike Lawson is the show. Kylie Bunbury is amazing as Ginny and absolutely stunning. And she truly looks like a pitcher, taking 3 months to learn everything she could from Kevin Gregg.

I don't hate Ginny, but agree with you about the drama of the show surpassing her story. I'm a big fan of shows like Entourage and Ballers because they show how each respective industry is run behind the scenes (I also enjoyed "Draft Day", even if it was very simplistic).

I like watching Oscar running around making deals, and watching Mike and Blip talk about their careers. The Ginny story was a unique take on a TV show, but the writing and acting has been so good, I almost wish they didn't have the whole "female-in-majors" aspect, and just made a great drame about the inner workings of baseball.

I just stopped watching Pitch altogether. Other than Kylie's beauty, there is hardly anything likeable about Ginny, negatives by far outweighs the positives. And I agree with Dan she is the worst part of the show, its a bad sign when its the lead character.

There are some decent side characters, but its not enough for me to keep watching it. Plenty of better shows, and time is short.
