Car Accident

Were we supposed to put together that her friends drunk dad was the one who caused the accident that killed her dad? In the scene of her dad dying wasn't she the only other one in the truck? Wouldn't her friend have been in the truck too and also wouldn't her friends dad have gone to jail for driving under the influence and killing someone not be free to just up and move?

reply

Yes. And, no. Her friend wasn't supposed to be in the truck too.

She and her dad was heading home. Her friend had been expecting his father to be at the game. He left a message asking... where are you? So he was probably still waiting for his father to show up.

When he was moving, they really didn't show who that other person was in the truck.

reply

His dad missed the whole game so why would he still be waiting at the game? I would think he would have taken the hint that he wasn't coming. Also yes we saw the dad and him in the truck.

That was my first reaction- Why wasn't Jordan in the truck since they gave him a ride to the game? We know he wasn't because of the flashbacks in episode 1.

Here's what I think happened: They originally planned to give Jordan a ride home. The scout showed up to talk about being drafted by the Padres. That was going to take a long time, so Jordan decided to find another ride.

Very true, they stayed to talk to the scout and he must have wanted to save face and wait for his dad to come, that's why he called and left that message that he was waiting at the field.

So we need to make stuff up to fill in the gaps. Excellent writing.

It might be poor writing, or it might be something to be revealed later. They've already been using that storytelling style- going back to a previous scene and filling in more details. Maybe there's a flashback in an upcoming episode that explains Jordan's abscence from the pickup truck. Then I'll see how close I was with my theory.

So brynerma = mikebryner? 😜

Yeah, I had trouble logging in once and created a new profile. Now it just depends on which device I'm using.

I was wondering about this as well...

Wow, I didn't figure it out before hand. Just makes it even worse than it already was with her dad calling the guy that killed him.

- So the dad was in the moving truck (I wasn't sure)? How would he not have been arrested for killing someone since he was obviously drinking?

- And wouldn't Jordan have been in the truck? He could have gotten a ride home with someone else, but it doesn't really make sense since he rode with them and they seemed to be his family.

OK, I just watched the episode again with the pause button handy. Ray (Jordan's dad) was not in the moving truck. During the first flashback (at about 8 minutes in), Ginny rides up to the house on her bike. We see 2 movers- a black guy and a white guy. They are wearing coveralls and back braces. The black guy is obviously not Ray, and if you look closely the white guy isn't either. He is heavier and his hair is different. In the later flashback, when they drive away, Jordan is in the passenger seat, the black mover is in the middle, and the white mover is driving. Ray is not there. (It's a quick shot, you have to pause)

I think they actually don't show the dad after the accident, only the friend as he's driving away. So I'm assuming the dad went to prison and her friend probably went to live with relatives. The friend probably stayed behind to wait for his father or had another ride. It was never suggested that Ginny's dad always drove him too.
